An interesting contemporary imitation of a Solidus of Theodosius II

Theodosius II, 402-450. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.30 g, 5 h), a contemporary imitation from an irregular mint. D N THEODOSIVS P F AVG Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Theodosius facing, wearing pearl diadem and holding spear in right hand and a shield decorated with a cavalryman riding over a fallen foe over left shoulder. Rev. GLORIA ORVIS TERRAR C / CONOB Emperor standing facing, holding labarum in right hand and globus cruciger in left; to left, star. Cf. RIC 232 (for prototype). An interesting contemporary imitation of curious style. The reverse very slightly double struck, otherwise, about extremely fine.
